I just watched “The Secret”. These ideas and principles, have been around for thousands of years…

the law of attraction…

the power of positive thinking…

energy breeds energy, success breeds success…

what you send out also acts as an attraction or magnet…

I definitely agree.

I watched this movie thinking it might be of some insight on my own illness. At one point in the movie, one of the gurus said “disease” was in fact “dis” “ease”. Describing it as a form of stress. I also agree that stress is a huge factor in illness. The guru said it was as if pulling on a chain until the stress breaks a link. Another of the panel selected to be in this movie, said we were ultimately responsible for our own illnesses. I’m uncertain if I believe completely in this principle. I have been in numerous waiting rooms and exam rooms filled with ill and terminally ill people. Some of whom were the most positive people I’d ever met. Some who fought valiantly with the most positive attitude I’d ever seen. Some are very good friends of mine. Upon hearing these gurus speaking about illness, which I doubt met any of my friends or the people I’d met in those waiting rooms, was almost insulting. Quite frankly, not a one of those gurus was worthy of shining my friends’ shoes. Of those gurus… some were doctors (of what I’m not sure) and some were just authors, of enough books to be a millionaires several times over. Making them a guru, I guess.

So does this mean a child born addicted to cocaine, because the mother was a crack addict, chose this path? Does this mean when a mother loses her 2 year old daughter to brain cancer, she caused it? Or the 2 year old caused it?

 As I find myself hitting a little bit of a hurdle with my own health, after watching this movie I wondered…. did I really do this to myself? I’ve been tumor free for over a year. Working out, laughing, a wonderful marriage, I’m self employed, I love where I live… am I really resonating negative energy? Am I really causing this tumor to grow back??? Do I want it to grow back? NO FRICKIN’ WAY!

By the way… remember the guy who made millions after inventing the Pet Rock? Perhaps he too is a guru for success. Wonder why they didn’t have him on the panel?

One thing I know for certain. Knowledge is power. I believe in education, persistance and staying in control. The woman I see in the mirror has been to hell and back. I’ve always heard you can’t get lost, if you remember where you’ve been.

That’s no secret.
