So I’m supposed to collect and save my urine for 24 hours. Doesn’t that sound fun? I’m keeping it in the fridge, right next to the ol’ man’s Miller Genuine Draft, heh heh. They want to see if I’m producing enough calcium (I believe it’s an indicator of whether or not my kidneys are functioning correctly). As well as I went through the gamut on lab work again… thyroid, prolactin, liver, lipid profile, growth hormone, testosterone, progesterone, etc. I’m having all this done locally, so I will be able to get my own results by the end of the afternoon tomorrow. Of course I don’t have an appointment with my GP until Tuesday… so bad or good, I’ll get to sit on those results over the weekend.

What no one (doctors, lab techs., nurses) seems to be able to tell me is…. how do they know what’s “normal” for me. I was told by doctors and lab techs. that hormone levels go up and down through the course of the day, so where do they get their base line from? Do different labs, produce different results? And am I just supposed to trust that the technician getting the results, is on their game for the day?? Do mistakes get made? Have they made them with me??

Please oh please let me be producing enough calcium…. I don’t need another set back. Please oh please let my thyroid be improving…. and for heaven’s sake, let that damn prolactin level be going down. I could use a little good news right now. (or tomorrow rather, when I get the results). PLEASE!!!
